Meet The Staff

Joy - Owner. After working for another business in decorating and leaving their facility, I truly missed my job.  My husband knew how I enjoyed working with brides and seeing their dreams come to life and he realized how much I was longing to get back into the field.  To my surprise, he set everything up to start my own business except for the name.  He not only believed in me - that I could create a successful business, he is also my biggest help.

Finding staff that cares as much as I do was not an easy task.  It is important to me for my staff to want drapings to be even, lights to work, for pins not to show, and to wear gloves when handling glass, etc.  I have been truly blessed with the following staff members.

Amy - Amy has been employed with Joyous Occasions since the onset.  She is a graduate of Pitt with a LSW degree and received her Masters degree in December, 2011.  Amy's OCD is certainly a quality I cherish in this business.  She doesn't stop until everything is the way she would want it for her own wedding.  Since she has been with me from the beginning, she has done everything from packing, loading, counting, and cleaning.  I have total confidence in anything she does and Amy is now supervising her own crew at events.

Mandy - Mandy joined our staff in 2009 and is very valuable to JOD.  She is a 2008 graduate of Ohio State University.  After living in Ohio for 5 years, she decided to come home to Pa.  Mandy also formerly worked for a another decorating firm and has experience in every aspect of decorating.  We are SO pleased to have her join Joyous Occasions Decorating.  And . . . she never complains even when she has tied 300 sashes herself!

Lisa - Lisa started working with JOD in the spring of 2011.  She is the proud mother of 2 beautiful sons and also works at a local bank.  She works closely with me on clean up of items coming back from events and does ironing, lots and lots of ironing.  I am SO happy to have found her.  She's also a lucky one who helps get to break down events.  I don't know what I'd do without her.

Tara - Tara joined JOD in early summer of 2011.  She is a soon to be bride herself (this fall) and her attention to detail and excitement is such an asset.  She accompanies me in decorating and is also one of the break down staff.  She too is a blessing to JOD.

Claire - Recently retired from her Occupational Therapy Recruiting job, Claire started working with us in August of 2011.  Her personality has been a great fit with JOD and her effort for perfection is truly appeciated.  Claire assists with decorating, ironing, and is the master at designing the cookie tables.

Family & Friends - My family and closest friends have been so supportive - they are always there for me, doing whatever needs done.  Unfortunate for them, but that usually entails tearing down at 11:00 at night.  I know this business was meant to be - Joyous Occasions Decorating is growing by leaps and bounds - and that's not just a coincidence - that's a gift that has been given to us.
